Maps were found in the presence of man, and developed with his development and map, which made historians say that man knew maps before writing, he used to draw a path to a target or a geographical location to facilitate access to it. The contribution of the Arabs to cartography was great, since the emergence of Islam, which encouraged science and knowledge, and with the increase in the area of the Islamic state, the interest of Muslim scholars in cartography increased throughout the Middle Ages, and they had great credit for the development of cartography and the arts of its manufacture, influenced by the Greeks who contributed in this field. The first map that the Arabs knew was the map that al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi ordered when the commander Qutayba ibn Muslim al-Bahili, the conqueror of Transoxiana, sent him a picture of the besieged region. Historians of the Islamic era worked hard in historical and geographical writing and were keen to transmit news And they left us with many important sources, one of the most famous of them, Ibn Hawqal, who visited the Islamic Maghreb as a whole, including the Middle Maghreb, where he visited it twice, the first in the middle of the fourth century AH and the second before the end of the Fatimid period in Morocco, but the authorship of the journey was immediately after Belkin bin Ziri assumed the mandate The countries of the Maghreb, his book The Picture of the Earth contained important historical and geographical information for the countries of the Maghreb and Andalusia, and we chose to see the information he provided about the Central Maghreb, where he presented the most important natural and human characteristics of the region and historical information for the fourth century AH and drew us a map of the Middle Maghreb different from the currently known maps Especially with regard to natural and political borders.
