الملخص
لعب الاستشراق دورا جوهريا في تشكيل نمط العلاقات بين الشرق والغرب ، وساهم عبر قرون طويلة في تكوين صورة نمطية عن الشرق عمومًا وعن المسلمين والإسلام خاصة . ورغم أن الاستشراق ذو جانبين إيجابي وسلبي ، إيجابي في أنه فتح للغرب نافذة على الشرق ليرى أجناسا بشرية مختلفة عنه وعقول مغايرة وثقافات متنوعة ومختلفة وثرية ، فإن له جانبًا سلبياً تضليليلاً حيث سيطرت على تلك الرؤية نزعة كراهية ومحاولات تشويه متعمده خلال القرون الوسطى. حيث جاء ذلك على خلفية الصراع الأيديولوجي بين الشرق والغرب في تلك الفترة التي شهدت الحروب الصليبية على الشرق الإسلامي، وهو ما يظهر لدى الكتابات الأولى للإستشراق عن الإسلام ونبيه في العصر الوسيط Orientalism played a fundamental role in shaping the pattern of relations between East and West, and for many centuries it contributed to forming a stereotype of the East in general and of Muslims and Islam in particular. Although Orientalism has both positive and negative sides, positive in that it opened a window for the West to the East to see different human races, different minds, and diverse, different and rich cultures, it has a deceptive negative side, as this vision was dominated by hatred and deliberate attempts to distort during the Middle Ages. As this came against the background of the ideological struggle between East and West in the period that witnessed the Crusades against the Islamic East, which appears in the early writings of Orientalism on Islam and its prophet in the Middle Ages.
