This reflection focuses on the various models for using literary texts in the context of teaching and learning foreign languages. Indeed, it questions the foundations of each model and aims to emphasize its characteristics and its effects on learners. It is from this perspective that we analyzed the French textbooks in use in Algerian secondary schools in order to determine the nature of the didactic approach highlighted by its designers. Our objective will be to assess the efficiency of the methodological choices in order to make suggestions and recommendations essential to the didactization of literature in a school context
