الملخص
الملخص: يتناول الموضوع دراسة عامة لنشاط البحرية العثمانية في البحر الأبيض المتوسط خلال القرن 16م ومواجهتها للقوى البحرية الأوروبية هناك، ونشاطاتها بالبحار الشرقية من خلال مواجهتها للأساطيل البرتغالية، وليس المقصود هنا دراسة الوجود العثماني والمسيحي في هذه المناطق، وإنّما تسليط الضّوء على أساليب الصّراع التي اعتمدوها في المنطقتين وعوامل نجاحهم في البحر الأبيض المتوسط وإخفاقهم في البحار الشرقية. ويتبين لنا من خلال هذه الدّراسة، أنّ الأساليب والوسائل التي اعتمدتها الدول الأوروبية المعادية للدولة العثمانية في البحر الأبيض المتوسط كانت معروفة لدى العثمانيين، في حين لم يكونوا على دراية لا بخبايا الملاحة في البحار الشرقية ولا بالأساليب ولا بالوسائل التي كان البرتغاليون يستعملونها هناك.
