The Teachers’ Attitudes And Practices Towards Strategy Based Instruction On Teaching Reading In A Foreign Language. A Case Study Of The Teacher Training School (ens) Of Constantine, Algeria.

Abstract

This study aims to unveil the first year Reading Techniques teachers at l’Ecole Normale Supérieure -Assia Djebar- de Constantine practice, their perceptions of the use of Strategy Based Instruction (SBI), and the role it plays in their teaching. It uses a questionnaire to elicit data to answer two main questions: Are teachers aware of SBI and their importance in the teaching of the reading skill? And are they willing to incorporate SBI in their teaching? The study reveals teachers’ awareness of the importance of SBI and their readiness to integrate it in their teaching of the reading skill in their classes.
