ملخص: يجب الاختيار بين تصوّرين متعارضين للمنطق: التّصور الإبستمولوجي، والتّصور الأداتي أو التّطوري[...] ما دمنا نحتفظ بمسلّمة وجود حقيقة ثابتة، لا يمكننا تفسير دور الفكر الإنساني ولا تمييز قيمته؛ إمّا أنّه يشوّه هذا المعطى الذي نعتبره مستقلّا عنه، وبالتّالي فهو صانع للخطأ؛ وإمّا يعيد إنتاجه ببساطة وبشكل خالص، ومن ثمّ فإنّ عمله هو فعلا بدون جدوى[...] لقد استطاع المنطق الإبستمولوجي حقّا، تحت اسم المنطق التّطبيقي، أن يترك مكانا للاعتبارات النّفسية التي كان يرفضها من حيث المبدأ؛ أمّا المنطق الأداتي فلا يترك أيّ مكان بجواره لهذا التّصور الميتافيزيقي؛ عندما نميّز الفكر دون الأخذ في الحسبان الدّور الخاص الذي يلعبه في تجربتنا، لا نمارس تجريدا فحسب، بل تجريدا غير مشروع: لأنّنا نتصوّر واقعا بإزالة الحدود التي تعرّف بطبيعته على وجه التّحديد. Abstract: We must choose between two opposing conceptions of logic: the epistemological conception, and the instrumental or evolutionary conception [...] As long as we keep the postulate of an immutable reality, we can neither explain the role of thought human, nor characterize its value; or else it alters what is supposed to be independent of it; and then she is the error worker; or else it reproduces it purely and simply; then his work is very futile [...] epistemological logic may well have, under the name of applied logic, left a place for psychological considerations which it rejected in principle; instrumental logic leaves no room beside it for this metaphysical conception; when we characterize thought without taking into account the particular role it plays in our experience, we are not only performing an abstraction, but an illegitimate abstraction: because we consider a reality by abolishing the limits which precisely define its nature.
