Résumé
The codes of funeral representation of a child have many particularities which mainly emphasize a special status. Apart from the gap between the age and the imagery representing the deceased, the details revealed by the epitaph allow us to go beyond the simple commemorative need and to glimpse a prospective approach where the question of the child’s future beyond death can be raised. The subject of this paper will focus on the contrast mentioned above but will also take into account details relating to parentage and the epithets chosen by the parents to commemorate their late offspring. This set of elements undermines that the right to memory might go beyond the limits of the living community to serve the deceased child in the afterlife with the hope that it complete its journey towards maturity and enjoy a more favorable destiny.
