Résumé : La présente étude propose d’analyser les effets de lecture et les horizons d’attentes du lectorat du roman algérien francophone, vus à travers un axe principal : le personnage central du roman. L’effet-individuel, l’effet-incarnation et l’effet-motif exercés par l’auteur sur son lecteur représentent des pratiques principales dans le nouement du contrat de pacte de lecture et se placent au centre d’intérêt de la postérité ; certes dans des aspects narratologique, figuratif, intensif, psychologique et idéologique. Or, le roman algérien francophone qui s’est donné outil littéraire d’exercice métatextuel depuis ses premières parutions, exerce-t-il toujours ces effets et répond-il aux horizons d’attente du public actuel ? Cette étude nous a donc permis de déchiffrer ces effets et a mené à conclure que le roman algérien francophone se voit actuellement contraint par un entourage médiatique et sociolinguistique qui le défavorisent. Abstract : The present study proposes to analyze the reading effects and the readership expectations of the French-speaking Algerian novel, seen through a main axis: the central character of the novel. The individual-effect, the incarnation-effect and the motif-effect exerted by the author on his reader represent main practices in the making of the reading pact contract and are placed at the center of posterity's interest; certainly in narratological, figurative, intensive, psychological and ideological aspects. However, the French-speaking Algerian novel which has given itself a literary tool for metatextual exercise since its first publications, does it still exert these effects and does it meet the expectations of the current public? This study therefore enabled us to decipher these effects and led to the conclusion that the French-speaking Algerian novel is currently constrained by a media and sociolinguistic environment which disadvantage it.
