Authors : Bouderbala Asma .

Abstract

The flipped learning approach is a significant innovation in educational research. Researchers exhibit extensive interest in this learner-centered approach nowadays. The present research paper examines how flipped learning model can promote students' autonomy. This descriptive study has been conducted to gain deep insights into teachers' perceptions of the application of the flipped approach, highlight the importance of introducing the flipped instructions into foreign language classes and explore its role in the development of learners' autonomy. A questionnaire has been administered to 26 teachers of English at Batna 2 University to collect qualitative and quantitative information to answer the research questions. The analysis and the interpretation of data revealed teachers' positive attitudes towards the implementation of this model in the EFL context. The findings of the study support the hypothesis that as the flipped learning environment is one of the active learning models, it can support and promote students' self-reliance and prepare them to be lifelong autonomous learners.
