Environmental Security And Law Of The Sea Institutions

Résumé
Abstract The comprehensive feature of the United Nations convention on the law of the sea would decline because of issues emerged following its adoption. In this context, issues addressed within environmental security have aggravated recently, such as climate change leading to polar melting and causing sea level rise that could lead to the disappearance of some vulnerable territories. As a result, the assessment of the ability of the institutions set forth in the Convention becomes a necessity induced by the need to counter the considered threats and to provide possible solutions to reduce or prevent imminent dangers. ملخص إن الطابع الشمولي لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار من شأنه أن يتقلص أمام المسائل المستجدة التي طرأت منذ الفترة التي تزامنت مع تبنيها. في هذا السياق، يمكن القول أن المسائل التي تتم معالجتها ضمن الأمن البيئي تفاقمت في الآونة الأخيرة على غرار تغير المناخ وذوبان الجليد بالقطب الشمالي وما ينجر عن ذلك من أثار على البيئة البحرية كارتفاع مستوى سطح البحر الذي قد يؤدي إلى اختفاء الأقاليم الأكثر عرضة لتلك الأثار، وعليه فانه من الضروري النظر في مدى أهلية الهيئات المستحدثة بموجب هذه الاتفاقية في سعيها لمواجهة تلك التهديدات وتقديم الحلول الممكنة للتقليل أو الوقاية من الأخطار المحدقة.
