Résumé

The study of the biological activity of the essential oil of Origanum glandulosum on adults of Schistocerca gregaria revealed a very high acridicidal effect. The test substance was administered by gavage or oral forcing. The total mortality of the treated individuals was obtained after 2 days. Observation of the external appearance of the digestive tract of the individuals tested did not reveal any alteration. Histological examination of the intestinal wall of the species studied revealed the very intense effect of the essential oil of Origanum glandulosum on the digestive tract compared to controls. This acts effectively on the stomodeum causing ulcerations, ruptures in the epithelium, which causes muscle strictures. At the level of the mesenteron, the essential oil of Oregano induces a modification of the epithelial appearance which becomes granular and lysis of the peritrophic membrane.
