Numerical Simulation Of Axial Ldpe Polymer Flow In An Extrusion Die

Abstract

A numerical study was carried out to study the rheological characteristics of the LDPE polymer in extrusion through a simple axisymmetric matrix. This polymer is considered a generalized Newtonian fluid that follows Cross law. In order to improve this extruder the influence of certain parameters on the velocity field, viscosity, pressure and shear rate was studied. This study shows us clearly that the increase in the output diameter of the matrix makes the characteristics of the extrusion uniform.
