Résumé

Investing in heritage: tangible or intangible, furniture or real estate, becomes one of the concerns of contemporary man in order to benefit from its values in the field of tourism and economic development, while ensuring the continuity of its identity and contributing to its sustainability. From there, we looked at a typology of industrial buildings named "the Docks", which date from the 19th and 20th century in Europe and even in Africa in the European colonies (like Algeria), located mainly at the edge of ports and railway stations to facilitate the marketing of the goods. Of those, this reflection is interested in international experiences (especially in Europe) in terms of valorization of this type of built industrial heritage in favor of the tourism sector and economic development. Our approach is essentially based on a comparative study before / after the valuation of three cases of the docklands: the London docks, Marseille docks, and the Lyon docks. These successful examples will eventually be used in our future interventions on this type of equipment (the docks), which is part of our national heritage and our identity, and which must be invested in the benefit of tourism and economic development.
