الملخص

Since the first show of “Lumière-Melie” films, which showed to the world the potential of cinema, France has not hesitated to support its imperialist policy in Algeria by using the pictures to pave the way for its settlement projects, starting with films showing Algerians as strangers, passing by the satirical films to the documentary films. The subject of colonial cinematography was the misrepresentation of facts, Historical, social and cultural character of the Algerian community in a stereotyped manner. In the other side, the settler, despite his lack of deliberate presence in the public film scene, was depicted in the form of the civilized man and the holder of the Western values of the new colony. Although French cinema in Algeria inadvertently contributed to the emergence of a revolutionary national cinema that used the revolutionary documentary as an instrument to resist colonialism and to transmit the reality of the national struggle to the world.
