Résumé

Scorpionic envenomation in Algeria poses a public health problem, responsible for almost fifty deaths each year, children in most cases, many of which can be avoided if care is given without delay in an efficient manner. The training of general practitioners, taking charge of this scourge, in the management of complications of scorpionic envenomation, is the guarantee of the victory against scorpionism. Understanding the pathophysiology of acute lung edema, and the proper handling of Dobutamine, administered by the electric syringe, with the use of a high quality scorpion antivenom, are the keys to success. Our three decades of experience in the Public Hospital of Ouargla, a city in southern Algeria known for the severity of its scorpion bites, allows us to present our experience in the field of resuscitation to our young doctors.
