These developments had an impact on the Moroccan Jewish community who had decided to emigrate to Israel leaving behind a long history that the abandoned Mellahs (Jewish neighborhoods) and the walled Jewish cemeteries still witness. Along this long era, the Jews lived many events such as their struggle against the Kushites and later against the Christians. The latter succeeded in controlling the region until the Muslim came and made them in the position of ‘the people of the D’himma (non-Muslims with legal protection). At this period, the Jews had become the biggest traders and monopolized various professions and handicrafts in the area. They were also landowners; thus, they were the backbone and foundation of the economy. Socially, they had good relations with other Muslim groups despite the existence of their own neighborhood, and their elderly were consulted on the issues of the ‘Ksar’. As a result of the dire economic situation in the 1930s and 1940s, the concentration of economic activity in the cities, Jews starter a migration to the inner cities. And with the emergence of the Zionist movement and the "State of Israel", the trend of migration shifted towards Europe and mostly towards this occupied entity. This was due to the success of the Zionist propaganda and the disregard of the colonial authorities. By the beginning of the 1960s the south regions’ ‘Mellahs’ (Jewish neighborhoods) became completely free of their Jews.
