Economic Espionage

Authors : Sayeh Boussahia . Moussa Lassoued .

Abstract

The Economic espionage concept refers to any unlawful act targeting of stealing critical economic secrets, such as trade, intellectual property and technology. The term refers to the secret acquisition or the theft of private information that is invaluable in a number of areas, including technology, finance, and government policy. Through this mean, perpetrators could gain cheap access to important information, which results in severe economic losses for victims. Espionage has evolved throughout history, where opponents make competitive efforts outside the battlefields, avoiding the use of traditional means, and following what drives growth and prosperity, by penetrating the secrets behind technology and targeting nuclear and military secrets. Today, intelligence services, criminals and spies focus on industry and commercial information and important technology as a fast, effective and safe way to penetrate the foundations of the economy.
