Abstract

The aim of this work was to acquire experimental data linked to separation of ethanol by liquid–liquid extraction in water + ethanol+ chloroform or diethyl ether systems at T = 293.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The binodal curves have been obtained by cloud-point titration method. Also the systems show the Treybal’s type I binodal curves. The solvent ca- pability has been compared for the two systems through the separation factor and distri- bution coefficient determination. The data reliability was ascertained from Othmer–Tobias and Hand plots. Finally, using NRTL model to fit the data for both ternary systems with the interaction parameters collected from thermodynamic model has positively correlated the equilibrium compositions.
