Sustaining Efl Students Through Positive Emotions: An Overview Of Affect In Education

Abstract
Learning is said to be intellectual, social, and emotional. For successful learning all three aspects need purposeful teacher attention. Indeed, positive emotions are closely related to students' performance and motivation. The recent positive educational trend, therefore, has put into promiwmce the status of reducing the scope of negative emotions, and framing the positive ones in educational setrings. This can be done through teachers 'focus on the social and emotional environment of their classrooms. Accordingly, the present paper is an attempt to highlight teacher 's role as a generator of positive emotions, enthusiasm, and motivation in an emotionally safe classroom setting. The role and importance of emotional intelligence are discussed as well as the characteristics of an effective emotionally intelligent teacher.
