Résumé
1989. Deux amies algériennes, Thelja et Hawa, juive, berbère, ont rompu le serment qu’elles avaient fait : ne jamais aimer « l’ennemi », un Français pour la première, un Allemand pour la seconde. Or, l’une et l’autre tombent amoureuses de l’homme impensable. La trahison advenue, les deux amantes choisissent Strasbourg, ville frontalière, hantée par l’Histoire, pour vivre leurs amours intranquilles. C’est dans ce lieu tiers, ni tout à fait allemand, ni totalement français, européen et non national, que se détisse l’Histoire, devenue mémoire charnelle partagée avec l’homme-ennemi. Alors, aux linéaments et dans les creux des corps désirants, s’abîme l’Histoire et s’esquisse une possibilité d’être imprédictible. Dans ce lieu tiers, deux femmes s’autorisent à transgresser le poids de l’Histoire, à subvertir les identités déterminées par celle-ci pour envisager de possibles cheminements de liberté. 1989. Two Algerian friends, Thelja and Hawa, the former Algerian, Berber, francophone and arabophone, the later Algerian, Berber and Jewish, broke their oath of never loving “the enemy”, in other terms, a French and a German, respectively. In spite of their commitment, each of them fell in love with the inconceivable man. Betrayal having come to pass, the two enamoured women chose Strasbourg, a border city, haunted by History, to live their uneasy love. It’s in this third location, neither totally German, nor totally French, European and non-national, that History plays out, taking on carnal memory – one shared with the enemy man. Thus, in the lineaments and the hollows of the desiring bodies, History perishes, yielding to a hint of the possibility of being unpredictable. In this third place, two women allow themselves to transgress the weight of History, and subvert their identities as determined by it, in order to consider possible paths of liberty.
